This was my second prep with Reg, having competed previously the year before at the NPAA event in Calgary. I worked with Reg through the off season and as show season approached he already had a plan for when we’d start prep and what would be required.

Reg is great at listening to you and figuring out ways to work around your schedule as much as possible and coach you on ways to fit in the things that can’t be worked around.

This year’s contest prep was just as doable as last year’s, weights 4 or 5 times a week and 15-20 minutes of cardio per session. As usual, results were where we wanted them to be prior to peak week and we just cruised into the competitions. No crazy last minute diet changes or hours on a cardio machine to try and catch up at the end.

I was very excited with the results from the past year of training. Placing 6th in the first show and 5th in the second in the open bodybuilding class in weight categories where some competitors had as much as 30lbs more weight than me. Compared to last year I had put on about 5lbs of muscle and brought a much larger, tighter stage package.

I’d recommend Wrench Fitness to anyone thinking about competing, contest prep can be an enjoyable experience where you watch your body change and unveil all the hard work you’ve been putting in at the gym over the years. It doesn’t have to be the nightmare that the two a day cardio, no carb crowd tries to scare everyone into thinking it is. Get the right coach and trust that coach to get you to where you need to be. Looking forward to another building season and getting back into the lights and excitement of the stage with an even more competitive physique.
